Factors associated with stress when caring for a child with a short stature

Short stature (SS) is one of the main diagnoses in Pediatric Endocrinology. SS can have a negative impact on family dynamics, causing stress and psychopathology. Poor adaptation by caregiver negatively affects pediatric patient. Our objective was therefore to study adjustment caregivers patients with SS, analyzing factors influencing it. One hundred ten primary from hospitals Valencia, Spain, participated. Parental (Pediatric Inventory for Parents), anxious depressive symptoms (Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale), functioning (Family Cohesion Adaptation adult attachment (Adult Attachment Questionnaire) were evaluated. Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) performed. The caregiver’s age, anxiety, variables are significant when predicting caused diagnosis. These results will help improve diagnosis, since healthcare personnel be able establish that and/or families present greater risk mismatch more quickly apply necessary intervention.
